Charlottes 7 month update!

Now that Charlotte is 7 months, she is closer to being a toddler than a baby anymore. I dont no wether im happy or sad about it. Shes growing up into a lovely little girl but on the other hand im trying to enjoy each moment because she is our last baby.

Milestones!
  • She can roll over.
  • She is almost crawling.
  • She says mama, dada, baba, nana and hiya.
  • We are trying baby led weaning and she loves broccoli.
  • She is in size 5 nappies.
  • She wears 9.12 month clothes.
  • She still has exzema.
  • She is a complete mamas girl.

Waiting on her hospital appointment!

Her eczema had gotten pretty bad and ended up getting infected. The doctor changed her cream and prescribed her an antibiotic. We are now waiting on a hospital appointment to get some tests done to figure out whats causing the eczema to flair up. I hated seeing her with her face so red and sore so il be glad when we can get her better.

On the move!

She is so close to crawling now. She is getting her kness under her so we are just waiting in the next few weeks for her to get up and get going. Sofia didnt really crawl she just walked but we think Charlotte will be our little crawler.

Charlotte's 5 month update!

This month i have noticed a massive change in Charlotte, she is getting her own little personality and becoming so alert.

We got her photoshoot pictures back and she looks so adorable in them. One thing thats so different from Sofia as a baby is Charlotte looks so much more like Matt.
Shes a very quiet little girl but she can be quite fiesty when she wants something, so im thinking she isnt going to be a pushover when she gets older.

Milestones:

  • She can now say dada 😊
  • Shes in 6-9 month clothes.
  • She loves yoghurts and ice cream the most.
  • She can almost sit up on her own and roll over.
  • She has 5 7oz bottles a day.
  • She is so smiley all the time.
Eczema:
Charlotte has pretty bad eczema now, it got to the point where we could only bath her in water. We tried so many things and finally the doctor gave us an emoliant and its amazing. Her skin is so much better now and not all red and patchy. I hope its not going to be an on going thing and t clears up soon.

Charlottes 6 week update!

My little lottie bear is 6 weeks old already. Its like ive blinked and time has just gone by. She is the sweetest little thing. She is a very quiet and content baby apart from the silent reflux.

She is so much more alert now and is starting to smile. She has the biggest gummy smile its adorable. She loves to be carried around and see whats going on.

This year was her first Christmas and even though it was busy with all the visiting she was so good and slept through most of it.

She is growing so quick and is in mostly all her 3-6 month clothes now. We have both our 6 week check ups next week so it will be interesting to see how much weight she has gained.

She still has her heart murmur which she had when she was born and the hospital weren't concerned with it but we will be getting regular check ups to make sure it stays harmless.

We are also getting her belly button re checked because we think she has a hernia. Im keeping it clean and we have cream to stop it getting infected so im hoping they say its still ok when we go back.

As much as it has been so hectic and such hard work, i am so glad she is in our lives. She is just such an amazing little girl and i cant wait to see her changing again over the next few weeks and see her smiling and laughing.

1 month postpartum!

I cant believe i had a baby 1 month ago. It has gone so fast, feels like we waited forever for her to get here. I am finally starting to feel some what back to
normal now.

                                                        4 days postpartum

                                                4 weeks postpartum

I was 12 stone 4lbs at 40 weeks and i am now 10 stone 8lbs. So far ive lost 24lbs. I havent really dieted yet or exercised so its mostly all the baby weight gone. I actually cant wait to get to the gym in the new year when im 6 weeks postpartum and the doctor says its ok to go ahead.

It has been a hard recovery this time because of the episiotomy, the first 2 weeks were so hard to even walk. My stitches have dissovled and i am almost healed now and the pain is finally gone. Its been tough not being able to rest as much with having sofia aswel, i think thats why its taken me this long to recover.

Finally my milk dried up so im not leaking anymore TMI ha. Im relieved i didnt get an abcess again and everything seems to be ok.

Apart from being extremely exhausted it has been a massive life change but we have adjusted very quick and charlotte has settled in straight away to our family. I love seeing the bond already between her and sofia.

Labour and delivery, baby number 2!

Our beautiful daughter Charlotte Everly Crowson was born on the 20th of november 2015. She arrived at 2.18pm and weighed 9.12 ozs.

I had an appointment on the 18th in the clinic and got the stretch and sweep done. When she did it it wasnt sore at all and she said my cervix was so far back and not even dilated. I was so upset because it had worked on sofia. The following morning i had the show so i knew then by the weekend i would have her.

Luckily we got my mum to have Sofia on the thursday night because at 3am friday morning i started getting contractions. They were so irregular so i waited till 5am when they were 10 minutes apart and we headed to kilkenny.

When i got there they hoocked me up to a monitor and got me to click all charlottes movements. She checked me and i was 3cm so we went straight to the delivery suite at around 7am.

We had the nicest midwife Eimear she was really listening to what i said i wanted. She checked me at 9am and i was 6cm. I was advised to carry on labouring on my own but i had such a traumatic time with Sofia that i wanted the epidural. We agreed she wouldnt break my waters until the doctor was there to do the epidural.

The doctor arrived at half 9, he got me all ready on the bed and matty was told to hold my legs while they put in the needle. He had to go and sit down because he nearly passed out ha. Once the epi was in i got relief within 10 minutes and my contractions were pretty much on top of each other.

At 11 she checked me and i was fully dilated so she had said we would wait an hour for charlottes head to come down a bit more. So the hour passed an she checked and we agreed to wait 1 more hour so it would be less pushing for me.

Once 1pm came i was so nervous knowing i had to get her out. By that time the epi had started to wear off. The first pushes didnt hurt too much but once her head was starting to come down i felt excruciating pain. I was getting so frustrated because i kept pushing but her head kept going back again.

I was so mean to the nurses and swearing and shouting it was so embarrassing now when i think back. However they kept me going and reassured me i could do it. The doctors had came in to intervene because an hour had passed but my midwife didnt want to do the vaccum like on Sofia. They gave me an episiotomy and her head came out soon after.

After her head was out i gave a few more pushes and she shot out onto the bed. I was in shock still and completely exhausted when they put her up for skin to skin. She was completely covered in the vernix so she was all white. They took her straight away then to check her heart as they detected a murmur during labour. The doctor gave her the all clear and matty spent some time with her while they stitched me up.

They brought her over then to weigh her and she weighed 9lb 12.5 oz. We couldnt believe the size of her. She is such a quiet little thing and we are so happy she is here. Our family is now complete with our girls. I am so amazed by her. She is the image of her daddy with her dark auburn hair and has blue eyes like me.

37 weeks pregnant!

I am finally classed as full term ☺ only 22 days till my due date i cant believe its so close. I have to say these last few weeks i have really struggled, i am in so much pain all the time.

How far along: 37 weeks.

Symptoms: So much pressure now she has dropped so low. Mini contractions. Pain in the top of my stomach where her foot is wedged in. Heartburn.

Weight gain: i have gained a total of 27lbs. I started at 10 stone and im almost 12 so im happy with that. At this stage last time i was up to 13 stone.

Appointments: I actually missed my 35 week doctors appointment because Sofia was in hospital for 3 days with hand, foot and mouth. I had my 36 week check up in the clinic on wednesday and they started to talk through the next few weeks. They werent happy with the constant pain ive had in the top of my stomach for a few weeks so they sent me to kilkenny to be monitored.

In the hospital they hooked me up to a monitor and baby was doing great i was even getting mini contractions. They put the pain down to position of the baby and that it was her foot. They said i will have it now till i deliver because her head is already engaged so she probably wont move.

Next appointment: I have my 37 week doctors appointment wednesday and then the following week i am back in the clinic. I have been getting my bloods done at every appointment because my iron has been so low.

Labour signs: so many now im constantly getting pressure and pains but nothing regular yet.

33 weeks pregnant!

Wow only 7 weeks to go and 4 weeks till im full term 😮 A few of my friends and family's had their baby's this week and it just makes me so excited to have our little one here. According to my baby app she weighs around 4lbs this week and i can really feel it now, her kicks are starting to hurt and i feel tons of pressure.

How many weeks: 33 weeks.

Weight gain: At my doctors appointment last week he said i was 70kg so i haven't gained an over amount i was 60kg when i got pregnant. Im happy with the steady weight gain.

Symptoms: Heartburn, i still get this every day. Pressure, so much pressure now she has dropped so low and i still head down. Lightening crotch, this is so painful and a bit awkward when your out in public. Tiredness, i feel like im exhausted all the time it doesnt help looking after a 2 year old and working still but i go off on maternity leave in 2 weeks.

Appointments: I had my 32 week check up at my doctors he was happy with my blood pressure and weight gain. He said she is head down and looks like she will stay that way with how low she is. I have my clinic appointment at 34 weeks and then i will alternate every week after between the doctor and clinic till my due date.

Labour signs: No contractions just tons of pressure and braxton hicks.

Maternity clothes: Im starting to out grow all of my normal clothes and im so sad my maternity jeans finally gave up on me and ripped 😕 i really dont want to buy another pair just for 7 weeks so im living out of leggings and long tops.

Nesting: I cant stop cleaning its ridiculous, i finally have mostly everything organised for her now and we got our double pram yesterday. When i get further along i will do the last few things like sterilising the bottles and getting her bed ready.

30 weeks pregnant!

The countdown is officially on 10 weeks till im a mum again. This pregnancy is flying by  really cant wait to meet my little girl Charlotte.

How far along: 30 weeks and 2 days.

Symptoms: major heartburn every night im living off rennie tablets and milk. Leg cramps mostly during the night they are so painful. Braxton hicks are coming on full force now all the time and back pain.

Gender: still a girl :) Charlotte Everly Crowson.

Appointments: we had our 28 week appointment 2 weeks ago and everything looked great. They suprised us by saying she was going to be a good size baby because my bump is so small i wasnt expecting it. She was measuring 2 weeks ahead buti think she will just be long like her sister. They also double checked and confirmed it was definatly a girl.

Weight gain: ive gained just over a stone this whole pregnancy so im happy so far i started out at 10 stone so i dont want to go over 12 stone this time.

Movement: she has gone so strong lately and i can feel her rolling around more than anything. There are times i can feel her limbs like a leg or arm sticking up.

Next appointment: i have a doctors check up next week and then a clinic appointment at 34 weeks. After that i will have one every week.

Best moment this week: i finally finished packing my hospital bags, i only have a few small things to go into the bag but i feel very organised this time.

29 week bump.

Baby number 2!

I am so excited that we are expecting again. I really did not expect to be pregnant as quick because it took a year to concieve Sofia, so it was a plesant suprise. We decided from her first birthday we would see what happened if i got pregnant we would be happy but if not we wouldnt stress ourselves like last time.

We wanted our kids to be 2 years apart so it was nice that the new baby is due 1 week after Sofias second birthday, we literally couldnt have timed it better.
The baby is due November 16th so i will have 2 November babys.

I dont feel nervous this time around for when the baby comes, we have done this once before and i still remember everything for a newborn since it wasnt that long ago. I feel confident this time and i know not to worry over everything like i did with Sofia.

I am opting for an epidural this time around i had a very traumatic birth with Sofia and i feel so anxious even when i think about it. I felt like i didnt get the experience i was hoping for doing it all natural and i homestly regret it because i was too exhausted after to care for her. I know i can do it without drugs but if ive learnt anything its that you dont have to prove anything to anyone. As long as the baby and i are safe that is my plan.

We are finding out the babys gender in 4 weeks and i really cant wait. We are both convinced its a boy but we dont mind either way. We had the gender scan with Sofia in Dublin and we found it amazing there so we will be going to the same place again. We have our names picked out finally but we wont be telling till we know the gender.

14 week bump!

Sofia's 18 month update!

My little baby is 18 months, what the hell!
Shes a proper toddler and so advanced for her age im amazed by how fast she learns something just by being shown once. She has a very cheeky personality and certainly loves the attention.

Potty training!
Very early i know but Sofia has shown a big interest she knows what a potty is and to sit on it. She understands wee wees and will go into the toilet as soon as you say it. For now we are just easing her into it and praising her when she sits down. She almost had her first wee yesterday but didn't make it in time and she was so upset but we assured her it was ok. I am wishfully hoping she is day trained by 2 but im just going to let her do it in her own time.

Chatterbox!
Sofia never stops talking and mumbling away she can say lots of words and put 2 or three together at a time. She knows our close family all by names and can decipher between everyone. She is constantly learning new words and understands everything we say to her. It can be a good and a bad thing because she has just learnt how to say no!

Playschool!
A month ago we had strongly considered taking her out of creche but within a few weeks she has taken to it so well and shes a better child for it. She was very socially shy and wouldn't go to anyone but family and we were getting a bit worried. We didn't want her to grow up that way so we decided as young as she was it was better to put her in now a few days then have her crying going to school later on. As soon as we get there she runs straight in and plays with all her friends and she loves her 2 teachers they are great with her and have really brought her out of her shell.

Milestones!

  • She has started potty training.
  • she loves Minnie mouse and playing piano.
  • she sleeps from 7 till 7 on a good night.
  • she only has 1 bottle before bed now.
  • she fits into nearly all her size 2-3 clothes
  • her shoe size is a 5, she has big feet like her mama.
  • her favourite food is carrots and fish.
  • she is very affectionate and also very hyper.
  • she had her first holiday to England this month.
  • she is a complete tomboy.
  • she is going to be a big sister this year 😊

Sofia's second Christmas!

This was Sofia's second Christmas and she noticed so much more this year, she loved all the lights and musical things.
we spent Christmas morning in my mums house then in the evening went to Matty's mums house so she spent time with both families.
She pretty much played all day and completely wore herself out and didn't want to go to bed.

Its hard to think next year she will be 2 and probably be More aware of Santa as she was afraid of him this year. We plan on bringing her on the rathwood train for next Christmas and starting to introduce Santa.

She got so many presents its crazy she is one spoiled little girl. Next year we are going to buy her a big present and get our family to buy just one present for her each because we don't want her to get spoiled, i want her to appreciate her things.

I'm so excited to start putting food out for the reindeer and making Christmas magical for her every year. :)

Sofia's 10 month update!

She is officially in double figures! As its nearly the end of the month she is technically nearly 11 months old so its only 6 weeks till my baby is 1 and will be a toddler!

Baby's first steps!

Sofia officially took 2 steps, me and Matty were almost crying ha. She is not brave enough yet to walk on her own but she will hold on with one hand. She is cruising around the couch and walking with her walker now. She has really good balance and will stand up on her own for about a minute before she falls on her bum. I really think she will be walking before her birthday.

Conquering lumps!

Finally Sofia has managed to move on a bit with her eating. We tried her again with the liga biscuits, i just broke off little lumps and she eats it really good now. She is still on mashed foods but still loves her pasta. Like last month we are in no rush to push her with lumps and she is doing it in her own time. She has a sensitive gag reflex so its just going to take time.

Birthday preparations!

Anyone who knows me will know how i like to plan everything so of course i have been planning Sofia's party pretty much since she was born ha. We are doing a princess theme. I wanted peppa pig but i couldn't find alot of the stuff so this year for handiness there was alot of princess things i could get. I have all the decorations got i just need to order her cake now. I'm so excited about it but i feel really emotional at the same time, this year just went way to quick.

Milestones!
  • She can almost walk.
  • She has so many words.
  • she is in 12-18 tops and 9-12 bottoms.
  • she is in size 5 nappies.
  • she drinks from her sippy cup now.
  • she has 3 meals a day and 2-3 snacks.
  • she is on the hungrier baby formula and has 4 bottles a day.

Sofia's 9 month update!

She is now 9 months old, this is the month ive noticed a big change in her. She is more like a toddler now than a baby. She is so intelligent and amazes me how quickly she learns and remembers things.

9 month development check!

We were recently back with the health nurse for sofias 9 month check up. Everything went great she was very impressed by how clever and advanced sofia is for her age. We were a little concerned about her weight but we were reasurred shes just fine and just above the normal weight. We always knew she was a tall girl but she measured in the 91% range for her height so she will more than likely tower over me when she grows up.

Feeding problem!

Sofia is great for trying any foods and will eat pretty much any flavours you give her. One problem we have is trying to move her on to bigger lumps and finger foods. She gags alot and finds it hard to chew things so she will just swallow it. Me and matt both have a big fear of choking so we are always careful what we give her. She can eat soft lumps like pasta or mashed foods. Our health nurse wasnt concerned and said she will move on when shes ready. Im glad of this because we are in no rush to and she will do it in her time.

On the move!

So one minute our baby couldnt even roll over and within a few weeks she mastered rolling over, crawling, standing assisted and climbing up. Once she does something once she just gets better even after 1 day. She will crawl really fast now and pull herself standing up on the couch. She has no fear tho so she just lets go so we have cushions everywhere ha.  Dont think it will be too long now till shes walking.

Milestones!

  • She can crawl.
  • She can stand assisted.
  • She can say alot of words now. Mama, dada, baba, nana, yeah, gaga and bobo.
  • She copys anything you show her.
  • She bats her eyelashes when you show her.
  • She knows what lights are and points to them when you ask her to.
  • If music comes on she dances to it.
  • She is still in 9-12 clothes and 4+nappies.

Sofia's 8 month update!

My baby is now 8 months old which means in 4 months time she will be 1! She changes every week and learns something new. She is copying everything now so we have to watch what we are saying now around her.

Feeding and sleeping routine:

◆ 8.30am wake up and have a 5oz bottle.
◆ 9.30am breakfast any type of cereal, she has a mixture everyday.
◆ 12pm nap time.
◆ 1pm dinner time, she has either fruit and a yoghurt or veg and a yoghurt.
◆ 2pm, 50z bottle.
◆ 3pm nap time.
◆ 5pm tea time, variety of meat mixed with veg or mash/sweet potato.
◆ 6pm, 5oz bottle.
◆ 9pm, 7oz bottle.
◆ bedtime varies every night but she usually falls asleep any time from 9pm to 10pm and sleeps till half 8.

Growing up too fast!

Sofia is now in her own room and the transition was alot easier than i thought. I was so nervous with the thoughts of her being on her own all night but she seems to sleep so much better. We wanted to keep her in our room longer but every time we moved or went toilet in the night it was waking her up so she wasnt getting a full nights sleep. We finally got her curtains up so its nice and dark for her. she loves her room and all the fairy lights its a proper girly bedroom.

Milestones

  • She understands when you tell her to wave or clap.
  • She copies everything you show her.
  • She has 2 teeth.
  • Shes starting to pull her knees up ready to crawl.
  • She reconises family members and acts shy around strangers.
  • She is in size 4+ nappies and size 9.12 clothes.
  • She is now in her own bedroom.

Sofia's 7 month update!

She is now 7 months old. I always feel like when a baby hits that age they are no longer small babies anymore and are growing closer to being a toddler. This month she has become so much more observant and aware. She knows her name and responds almost straight away when you call her. She can recognise people and start to make strange when she doesn't know someone.

Taking baby steps!

We bought Sofia a baby walker and she loves it. She loves the freedom to go where she wants since she can never sit still. We have a jumperoo for her and she still loves it but was starting to get bored being in the one spot too long. We think she will be one of those baby's who doesn't crawl and just gets up and walks one day because she has no interest on being on her belly. She just wants to be up on her feet all the time!

Separation Anxiety

For the last few weeks whenever me or Matty leave the room and Sofia sees us going she cries until we come back. We have to try and sneak out without her seeing. It's a lovely feeling that she wants me all the time but at the same time it can be very tiring. She is reaching her hands up now when she wants to be picked up aswel.

Milestones!
  • Sofia is taking steps in her walker.
  • She is now in her 9-12 clothes.
  • She is starting to copy things you show her like clapping your hands or waving.
  • She is pretty much sitting up on her own but because she cant sit still for 5 minutes she ends up falling over.
  • She is in size 4+ nappies in pampers.
  • She had her first solid poop ( really grose but its a milestone ) :P

6 months postpartum!

I had a baby half a year ago! That just sounds crazy to say. I'm still not back to my pre-pregnancy body but I'm going by "9 months in and 9 months out" to hopefully be back to myself.

Diastasis Recti!

My stomach muscles are still not together as they should be I can still feel a gap in the middle and when i do a sit-up i get a bulge in my stomach coming up through my muscles. Its still sore to do a sit up and i find it very hard. Ive heard the Belly Bandit wraps are supposed to be brilliant for holding the muscles in and helping them join up again. They are quite expensive though so might be a while before i get one.  I did get an Ever last tummy slimmer for 6 euro for the mean time and it really keeps everything in so I'm going to wear it day and night and see in a few weeks if it makes any difference.

Broody Again!

One thing Ive noticed is I'm getting so broody again if I see a pregnant woman or a newborn baby but it's way too soon to even think about doing it all again. I want to make sure Sofia has my full attention till she is around 2. We want 3 kids and I hope to have them all before I'm 30 so 5 years for 2 more is loads of time.

6 month postpartum belly and stretch marks!

I still have my stretch marks but they have faded so much so I'm hoping they will carry on fading. I read somewhere at 6 months is when they start going white. My stomach still sticks out from my muscle separation but its gradually going back in.

Sofia's 5 month update!

Sofia is now 21 weeks old. Shes starting to turn into a little girl now she doesn't seem like my little baby anymore. She has pretty much grown out of all the baby things like her bouncer and her 3-6 month clothes are all being packed away. She is growing up way too fast! As of now she is in mostly all her 6-9 month clothes. I cant believe she will be half a year old in one month i want to cry thinking about it, I wish she could stay this age forever.

Baby's first care doc visit!
We had to bring her to the care doc the other morning at 1am! She had been coughing and chocking alot but it turned out to be a little cold and mucus from her nose making her cough. It was our first real panic with her and the doctor even laughed at us bringing her in but id always Rather be safe than sorry! She has saline drops in her nose now every 4 hours and its clearing the mucus really quick so its so much better for her.

Baby Talk!
She is non stop babbling, typical woman never stops ha! She is really trying to say words, I know its so soon but she is so intelligent she listens to everything and responds so well. So far even if it's just coincidence shes said egg, hiya, hi, baba. I need to try record her one day so someone believes me ha.

Tantrums already!
Sofia is very clever and she knows already how to get attention. She has starting screaming when she wants to be picked up or if shes in her jumperoo she will scream, stamp her feet and hit the top. It's very hard but we have to ignore her so she understands, after about 5-10 minutes she stops and carry's on playing. I have a feeling we are going to have a little madam on our hands ha!

Milestones!
  • She seems to respond to her own name now and she is remembering people. She can be strange with people she doesn't know now.
  • She is so close to rolling over she gets almost over and flips back the other way.
  • She sat up for a few seconds on her own the other day.
  • She almost sleeps through the whole night now, she goes down about 12-9.30/10am. We just have to try get her in a bit earlier.
  • She can hold toys on her own now, pick them up and put them back down. She also reaches for everything and trys to put it in her mouth.
  • She is such a happy baby she is always smiling and laughing.

My Dad x

My dad passed away from a sudden heart attack on Sunday 6th may 2012 at 47.
This is something i find very hard to talk about because when i do it just reminds me that he isn't here anymore. Anyone who knew my dad knew he was stubborn, hard headed, always right and always did what he wanted. He was also kind hearted, loving, supportive and a big softy. I feel angry he was taken when i was only 23. One thing that will stay with me forever is how he was always there for me and at one point he was my only friend.

When we were younger my dad worked abroad alot so we barely saw him, so it was like Christmas every day he came home. He used to always play his music really loud at the weekend and we would sit downstairs on the floor listening to songs all day.

As i grew up i resented my dad for not being there, i guess i was too young to realise he worked so hard to give us everything we wanted. We disagreed on alot of things and grew apart. He became very depressed at home after his accident and it was very hard to talk to him. I should have tried to help him more and i regret that everyday.

When i became pregnant for the first time he was so excited and couldn't wait to be a grandad. When i lost the baby he was there for me and we started to become close again and it felt like old times. Unfortunately this was 3 months before he died.

There are things i will never have like him walking me down the aisle, our father daughter dance and meeting my daughter Sofia. It breaks my heart she will never know him. But there are things i will cherish forever, secrets and memories.

I miss him more everyday and the hole that's missing never goes away.

If your dad is still here give him a big hug and kiss and tell him you love him x
